Randal, it was a privilege to know you. You served your city with honour. You walked through life with dignity.

There are some people in public life who do not simply hold office but elevate it. They carry themselves with a decency that becomes the measure by which the rest of us should judge our own behaviour. Randal Brew was one of those rare men. A gentle gentleman. A thoroughly decent and upstanding bloke. The kind of public servant our city produces at its very best and the kind of man we should all aspire to be.
