I've followed the link provided and I get a blog and within that is another link that states it's to the original article - sadly it's not and thus makes me doubt the credibility of the link itself. Be delighted however for more credible foundation. Make an interesting basis - and help appreciated 👍

Sorry I missed your question initially 🤗

Mike,

Oliver Lee was the Chief Fire Officer, not the WMFS CEO. There is no such post in WMFS.

Correction / clarification

David – thank you for highlighting this.

You are correct that West Midlands Fire Service is led by a Chief Fire Officer, not a Chief Executive Officer, and Oliver Lee served as interim Chief Fire Officer following Wayne Brown’s death.

In the article I referred to him as interim chief executive, which was imprecise and I’m grateful for the correction.

The article itself cannot now be edited, but it is important the record is clear, so thank you for pointing it out.

Oliver Lee was CEO. Whilst he also held the statutory role of Head of Paid Service, it is on record that Lee declined the CFO title as he felt he should only take that when operationally sector competent to command large fires and emergencies having completed the courses. Accordingly his title was Chief Executive Officer whilst at WMFS. I would consider that Colonel Lee saw how little respect is given non-sector competent personnel holding the Chief Fire Officer title having never attended a fire or emergency in any command role. Also the former Police HM Chief Inspector of Constabularies Sir Thomas Winsor who was derided by rank and file coppers for wearing a full dress uniform whilst never having served.

Thank you for the clarification. Yes, I recall the derision that met Thomas Winsor as HMIC, not just for the uniform he had.

Have I deleted links apologies I'm not aware of doing so - but I can be a right one with technology 😮

I don’t think links were deleted but when accounts are deleted the comments they make disappear too.

Thanks Jay that makes sense and I think I may have deleted my own account off the app. I access via my own web site. I must fix this.

Hi Mike, I don’t think it was your account that was deleted it was Halj2 that deleted their account - I only know as I went to message them and the account was gone - nothing you have done. I love the journalism and from what Halj has said a deeper dive may be needed

Yes, strangely enough for not putting all of the 160+ fire depts I've worked with/for on a one page CV and marking it simply "UK and International Fire Services"- quite a contrast to Brown, Bowcock and Brackenridge who claimed things they had not done, whereas I didn't feel compelled to put everything on and still don't.

Also an anonymous complaint, with no panel/hearing or right to reply after I complained about the IFE CEO Steve Hamm who made a dreadful prosecution statement in the malicious prosecution against me. A neutral observer may think that Steve tried to get a parting shot in before I left.

Feel free to let people know the fullest details if you've got the connections and prepared to reveal yourself. I believe you're still a wanted man/woman for the alleged harassment of Wayne Brown and emails. I've my suspicions who you are and you've a lot of time on your hands. 😉🤣
